
Dr. Arancha Garcia del Soto - Helen Hamlyn Senior Fellow of IIHA is the academic coordinator of the training programs and courses conducted at the Institute. She holds a Degree in Social Psychology from the University Pontificia of Salamanca in Spain (1988), a Masters in Social Sciences by the Juan March Foundation in Madrid (1993), and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Salamanca (1998).
She has worked, published1 and taught in Europe, Sri Lanka, Africa, Latin America and the United States on psychosocial interventions with survivors of violence. She has collaborated with local and international organizations formulating programs for different funding agencies, evaluating and implementing community programs with survivors of violence – specially focused on Gender Based Violence and reparations in Latin America, the Balkans, West Africa, Iraq and Sri Lanka. Prior to this appointment, Dr Garcia functioned as the Director of Refugee Initiatives at the Solomon Asch Center for the Study of Ethno-political Conflict at the University of Pennsylvania.
